Adversity

Adversity is part of our mortal life, we agreed to come to this world knowing this would be a provisionary period where we would be tried, we understood this would only be a short period of time compared to eternity. As we face these challenges and troubles we do so with the help of our Father in Heaven. We must remain faithful and obedient to his commandments, Heavenly Father will bless our lives that we may withstand and overcome the challenges that present themselves. Only through these trials we are to grow spiritually stronger, enduring to the end will bring us joy and exaltation.

MONSON “I Will Not Fail Thee, nor Forsake Thee” October 2013 General Conference  https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2013/10/i-will-not-fail-thee-nor-forsake-thee?lang=eng

MONSON “We Never Walk Alone” October 2013 General Relief Society Meeting  https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2013/10/we-never-walk-alone?lang=eng#watch=video

“[We] chose to live—in a fallen world where for divine purposes our pursuit of godliness will be tested and tried again and again.” JEFFREY R. HOLLAND “Like a Broken Vessel” October 2013, General Conference  https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2013/10/like-a-broken-vessel?lang=eng

“I pray that we will not let the temporary challenges of mortality cause us to forget the great commandments and priorities we have been given by our Creator and our Savior.” DALLIN H. OAKS “No other Gods” October 2013, General Conference  https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2013/10/no-other-gods?lang=eng

“Thus, the Savior has suffered not just for our sins and iniquities—but also for our physical pains and anguish, our weaknesses and shortcomings, our fears and frustrations, our disappointments and discouragement, our regrets and remorse, our despair and desperation, the injustices and inequities we experience, and the emotional distresses that beset us.” DAVID A. BEDNAR “Bear Up Their Burdens with Ease” April 2014, General Conference  https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2014/04/bear-up-their-burdens-with-ease?lang=eng

“In courageously pursuing such a course, [discipleship] you will forge unshakable faith, you will find safety against ill winds that blow, even shafts in the whirlwind, and you will feel the rock-like strength of our Redeemer, upon whom if you build your unflagging discipleship, you cannot fall.” JEFFEREY R. “My son, peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine affliction shall be but a small moment” (D&C 121:1,7-8) QUENTIN L. COOK “Hope Ya Know, We Had a Hard Time” October 2008, General Conference  https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2008/10/hope-ya-know-we-had-a-hard-time?lang=eng

“We know from the scriptures that some trials are for our good and are suited for our own personal development. 17 We also know that the rain falls on the just and the unjust. 18 It is also true that every cloud we see doesn’t result in rain. Regardless of the challenges, trials, and hardships we endure, the reassuring doctrine of the Atonement wrought by Jesus Christ includes Alma’s teaching that the Savior would take upon Him our infirmities and “succor his people according to their infirmities.” QUENTIN L. COOK “Hope Ya Know, We Had a Hard Time” October 2008, General Conference  https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2008/10/hope-ya-know-we-had-a-hard-time?lang=eng

“The worst whirlwinds are the temptations of the adversary. Sin has always been part of the world, but it has never been so accessible, insatiable, and acceptable. There is, of course, a powerful force that will subdue the whirlwinds of sin. It is called repentance.” NEAL L. ANDERSEN “Spiritual Whirlwinds” April 2014, General Conference  https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2014/04/spiritual-whirlwinds?lang=eng
