Love

Love is a feeling so deep that it can move us to change, and to do good to all fellowmen. Sometimes it is not easy loving those around us, even less those that try to harm us, but we have been commanded to love one another. Wars and disputes can be avoided if the world would exercise more love than hatred. The Lord Jesus Christ is our example of how we can love others, forgiving them and truly having affection for them. We are literally sons and daughters of our Father in Heaven and continue to be brothers and sisters here on earth we will find more joy, and peace on this earth if we remember to love each other.

“We are all spirit children of our Heavenly Father and, as such, are brothers and sisters. As we keep this truth in mind, loving all of God’s children will become easier.” THOMAS S. MONSON  “Love—the Essence of the Gospel”  April 2014, General Conference  https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2014/04/love-the-essence-of-the-gospel?lang=eng

“Love is the very essence of the gospel, and Jesus Christ is our Exemplar.” THOMAS S. MONSON “Love—the Essence of the Gospel”  April 2014, General Conference  https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2014/04/love-the-essence-of-the-gospel?lang=eng

“May we cherish those we hold dear and express our love to them in word and in deed.” THOMAS S. MONSON “Finding Joy in the Journey” General Conference Talk, October 2008, general Conference  https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2008/10/finding-joy-in-the-journey?lang=eng

“True love requires action. We can speak of love all day long—we can write notes or poems that proclaim it, sing songs that praise it, and preach sermons that encourage it—but until we manifest that love in action, our words are nothing but “sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.” DIETER F. UCHTDORF “You Are My Hands” April 2010, General Conference  https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2010/04/you-are-my-hands?lang=eng

“As we extend our hands and hearts toward others in Christ like love, something wonderful happens to us. Our own spirits become healed, more refined, and stronger. We become happier, more peaceful, and more receptive to the whisperings of the Holy Spirit.” DIETER F. UCHTDORF  “You Are My Hands” April 2010, General Conference  https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2010/04/you-are-my-hands?lang=eng

“Love is the catalyst that causes change. Love is the balm that brings healing to the soul. But love doesn’t grow like weeds or fall like rain. Love has its price. “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). That Son, even the LordJesus Christ, gave His life that we might have eternal life, so great was His love for His Father and for us.” THOMAS S. MONSON “A Doorway Called Love” October 1987, General Confernce  https://www.lds.org/general-conference/1987/10/a-doorway-called-love?lang=eng

“Home should be a haven of love. Honor, courtesy, and respect symbolize love and characterize the righteous family. Fathers in such homes will not hear the denunciation of the Lord as recorded in the book of Jacob: “Ye have broken the hearts of your tender wives, and lost the confidence of your children, because of your bad examples before them; and the sobbings of their hearts ascend up to God against you” (Jacob 2:35). THOMAS S. MONSON “A Doorway Called Love” October 1987, General Confernce  https://www.lds.org/general-conference/1987/10/a-doorway-called-love?lang=eng

“Express Love—and Show It We can begin to become more diligent and concerned at home by telling the people we love that we love them. Such expressions do not need to be flowery or lengthy. We simply should sincerely and frequently express love.” DAVID A. BEDNAR “More Diligent and Concerned at Home”  October 2009, General Conference

The more we allow the love of God to govern our minds and emotions—the more we allow our love for our Heavenly Father to swell within our hearts—the easier it is to love others with the pure love of Christ. As we open our hearts to the glowing dawn of the love of God, the darkness and cold of animosity and envy will eventually fade. DIETER F. UCHTDORF "The Merciful Obtain Mercy" April 2012, General Conference  https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2012/04/the-merciful-obtain-mercy?lang=eng

Jesus said it is easy to love those who love us; even the wicked can do that. But Jesus Christ taught a higher law. His words echo through the centuries and are meant for us today. They are meant for all who desire to be His disciples. They are meant for you and me: “Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.” DIETER F. UCHTDORF "The Merciful Obtain Mercy" April 2012, General Conference  https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2012/04/the-merciful-obtain-mercy?lang=eng
